Broken Garage Door Springs
One of the most common issues that we come across is broken garage door springs. A broken spring on your garage door can make it very unsafe, especially if you have an extension spring system, in which case the springs can fly off the door and cause injury or damage if you try to open it. The best thing to do if you suspect you are dealing with a broken spring problem is arrange a visit from one of our technicians and avoid using your door until the problem has been repaired. If you have an extension spring system on your garage door and would like a safer alternative, we can upgrade your door to a torsion spring system, which involves mounting springs on a torsion tube or spring bar that is fitted above the garage door.
Extension Springs
These are mounted on either side of the garage door where they attach to the track and a cable and pulley system. The cables and pulleys are attached to bottom brackets on the door, where they lift the door open when the springs provide power. The entire system will fail to function correctly and safely if a spring is broken or incorrectly installed.
Torsion Springs
Torsion springs are mounted on a spring bar or torsion tube with drums at both ends, that is located above the garage door opening. The cables are attached to the bottom bracket of the door, where they wrap or wind around the drums at the top when the door is opened or closed.
