The other Libertyville pattern is mounting. Vertical track is lagged into the jamb and the horizontal run hangs off the joists, and in a garage that has stood for eighty or ninety years that timber has dried, shrunk and absorbed thousands of cycles of vibration. Lags back out slowly, the track drifts out of parallel by a fraction, and the rollers start climbing the flange instead of running inside it.

Wide doors on the newer builds have their own version of this. A sixteen-foot door puts real load on the horizontal track, and where the rear hangers were run long without cross-bracing they sag over time. The door then meets the curve slightly off line every single cycle until something jumps.

A shallow dent in otherwise sound track can be dressed out and the section re-set true. Anything creased, torn at a bolt hole or twisted gets replaced instead, because a patched bend is a repeat call and track is not the costly part of a door.

For a door that has come off entirely, the order is to take the load off, guide the rollers back into the channel without forcing the sections, then find what caused it before putting the door back to work. Nine times out of ten it is a worn roller, a backed-out lag or a cable, and reseating the door without finding that just books the next visit.
