A Caved Section on a Romeoville Door: Repair or Replace

Three things have to line up: the manufacturer, the panel profile stamped into the steel, and the track and hardware the door runs on. Boom-era builder doors were bought in very large runs, which helps, but plenty of those exact models are long discontinued and what turns up is a current equivalent rather than a twin.

Colour is the part people underestimate. A white door that has faced south for twenty years is not the white that comes out of the crate, and a new section will read brighter than its neighbours until it has weathered. We say that before ordering rather than after fitting.

The newer subdivisions here sit open, and a sixteen-foot door is a large flat surface for wind to push against. Where a door was hung without a strut across the top section, that section flexes a little every time it is pulled up. Over enough years the flexing stops springing back and shows as a permanent bow along the middle of the door.

A bowed top section is not automatically a replacement. Sometimes it is a strut that was never fitted in the first place, and adding one stops the movement getting worse. Worth establishing before the section deforms past straightening.
