What Was Fitted on Day One, and Why It Is Loud Now
Production installs get whatever roller came in the carton: a short-stem steel wheel on a ten-ball race, or on the cheaper doors a plain plastic wheel with no bearing in it at all. Both work. Both are noisy by design, and the unbearing type scrubs the rail as it goes, which is how a track ends up scored long before anyone considers the roller that did it.
Nylon on a sealed race is the usual replacement. It runs quieter, wants no oiling, and is gentler on the track. It is not magic, and a nylon roller in a bent rail will still complain, but on straight track it takes the ring out of a door that has been waking the house.
The Bottom Roller Is a Different Job Entirely
The bracket at each bottom corner carries the lift cable, which means it is under full spring tension the whole time the door is down. Undo it with the door closed and the spring wound and the bracket leaves in a hurry. This is the most common way people hurt themselves changing rollers, and it is why those two are the ones to leave alone.
The top roller is its own case. It sits in an adjustable carrier that sets how firmly the top section seals against the header, and on a wide door that carrier absorbs the flex when wind pushes on the middle of the panel. If a top corner is the noisy one, the carrier usually wants setting rather than the roller replacing.

Do all the rollers get changed, or only the ones making noise?
Normally all of them. They have run identical cycles, and dropping one fresh nylon roller in among nine worn steel ones leaves the door running at the pace of the worst. Where one has clearly failed early on an otherwise sound set, we will say that instead.

That is a roller race that has come apart. The wheel is now turning dry on its stem and will start cutting into the track. Stop using the door if you reasonably can, because track damage costs a good deal more to put right than a roller.
