Why a Bolingbrook Garage Door Got So Loud

Once that starts, the wheel stops rolling and begins skidding along the track.

A short stem in a bracket designed for a long one sits with too little engagement in the track and will jump out under load.
Hinges get looked at during the same pass. A worn hinge holds the roller at an angle no matter how new the roller is, and elongated bolt holes are a common find on any door that has been running rough for a couple of seasons.
The Bottom Rollers Carry the Cable
The bottom fixture is a different animal from the rest. It holds the lift cable as well as the roller, which means it is under tension whenever the door is down. It is not something to unbolt casually, and it is the one roller position where a homeowner having a go at the job gets hurt.
It is also the position that wears fastest. It takes the most weight and it sits right down in the salt and meltwater that comes off a car through a Will County winter. When only one roller has failed on a door, that is usually the one.
