Replacing a Damaged Section, Not the Whole Door
The dent is the straightforward part. Matching it is the job. A sectional door is built from four or five horizontal sections bolted together through hinges, and any one of them can come out, provided the manufacturer still makes that exact profile at that exact height and the colour has not moved on in the meantime.

We handle section replacement across Tinley Park, and the first thing that happens is reading the label inside the door to find out whether the part exists at all.
Two kinds of damage, and they behave differently
Impact is the obvious one. A bumper reversing in a shared two-car bay, a bike tipping against the face, a snow blower handle: it all lands on the bottom section, which is the one within reach and the one everything gets stored against. The steel takes the dent and the insulation behind it takes the crush, so a section that reads as cosmetic can have lost real stiffness.
Rust is the slow one, and in this village it is the more common reason a section has to go. Salted slush drops off the cars, pools along the floor where the bottom seal sits, and works at the lowest section from the inside out. By the time it shows on the outside face the steel at the seam is already thin.
When one section is worth doing and when it is not
A single damaged section on a door that is otherwise sound, reasonably recent and still in production is a good candidate. Damage across two or more sections, a door whose track and hardware are at the end of their own life, or a profile discontinued years ago all point the other way, and we will say which one you have.
Colour is the awkward part of an otherwise simple job. A door that has faced south or west for fifteen years has faded, and a factory-fresh section in the same nominal shade will read as a patch. On a front elevation that matters. Better you hear it from us than discover it in daylight.
How the swap goes on the day
The door comes down and gets supported, spring tension is released where the work needs it, and the damaged section is unbolted from the hinges above and below. The replacement goes in, hinges and rollers are carried over only if they are sound, and the strut on the top or bottom section is transferred or renewed.
Then the door is rebalanced. A new section is rarely the exact weight of the one that came out, particularly if the old one had taken on water at the seam, so the spring set is checked against it and the opener force reset before anyone calls the job finished.

Questions
Tinley Park questions about this job
How do I find out whether my panel is still made?
There is a label inside the door, usually on an end stile or the bottom section, giving the manufacturer and model. That plus the section height and the panel design tells us whether it is available. A photo of the label and of the damage saves a trip either way.
The bottom section has rusted through along the edge. Can just that one be replaced?
Usually, and it is the section most often done on its own. It carries the bottom brackets and the seal retainer, so both get inspected while it is out, and the new seal is set to sit properly on a floor that has almost certainly settled since the door went in.
Will insurance cover a section a vehicle hit?
That is between you and your insurer and depends entirely on the policy. What we can give you is a written estimate itemising the section, the hardware and the labour, which is the document an adjuster will ask for.
