Replacing a Damaged Garage Door Section in Wheaton
Panel damage arrives in one of three ways: a car in reverse, a spring storm, or slow rot along the bottom of an old wood door. Wheaton produces all three, and none of them is fixed the same way.

The first question is always whether the door can still take a single section or whether it has aged out of the parts catalog. That gets answered on site, from the manufacturer stamp and the section profile, before anything is ordered.
When One Section Is Enough
If the door is a current or fairly recent model, a bottom section that took a bumper can be swapped and the rest left alone. The replacement has to match on stamp pattern, gauge, insulation type and stack height, or the door will not sit square in the opening.
Color is the honest caveat. A new section arrives in the factory finish and the existing door has spent years facing weather. On white nobody notices. On almond, sandstone or a dark finish, the difference shows for a season or two.
Old Wood Doors on Wheaton's Alley Garages
The detached garages behind older Wheaton homes often still carry wood sectional doors, and those rot from the bottom rail upward. Unheated space, a slab that wicks moisture and snow banked against the door for three months will do that.
Wood can be repaired. Bottom rails get rebuilt, stiles scarfed, the face reskinned, and on a house where the door suits the architecture that is usually the right call. Where the frame itself has gone soft it is not.
Damage That Is Not Really the Panel
A door that has been hit hard has more than a dent. Look at the hinges either side of the crease, the roller stems, the track opposite the impact and the strut across the top. Bolting a good panel into a bent frame only moves the problem.
If the crease runs through a joint between sections, or the door is out of true across its width, we assess the whole assembly rather than sell one section that solves nothing.

Questions
Wheaton questions about this job
My door is about twenty years old. Can you still get a matching section?
Sometimes. Some manufacturers keep long-running stamp patterns available and others discontinued theirs a decade ago. We take the model and serial from the sticker inside an end stile and check before promising anything. Where nothing matches, a full replacement beats a panel that visibly does not belong.
Is a single dented panel worth fixing at all?
If the damage is cosmetic and the door is otherwise sound, yes. If two or more sections are hurt, or the door is already near the end of its life, the arithmetic tends to favor a new door. We give you both routes and the reasoning behind them.
Should I put this through my insurance?
That depends on your carrier and how the damage happened, so it is your call rather than ours. What we can do is document the damage clearly, including anything structural behind the panel, so you have something usable to submit.
