Rolling steel is a curtain of interlocking slats winding onto a barrel above the opening, with the counterbalance spring living inside that barrel. Its faults are its own: a slat creased by a vehicle, guides packing solid with grit, or barrel tension drifting until the curtain will not stay where it is put.

That record gets left behind, along with a straight answer on whether the door is near the end of its life or has years in it.
