On a garage that faces the alley behind, almost nobody sees it, and the sensible spend goes into the guts: insulated sections, heavier hinges, better rollers and track.
Insulation is worth arguing about in the first case and worth having anyway in the second. An attached bay under living space wants a double-skin insulated section for heat and for quiet. A cold detached garage gains stiffness from insulation more than warmth, which is still a good reason to specify it, just not the reason people expect.
How Fitting Day Actually Runs
The old door and its tracks come out, the jambs and header get inspected while they are exposed and easy to see, then new track, rollers, hinges and springs go up with the new door. The spring calculation is done against the weight of the door being fitted. Nothing is carried across from what came off, because the two rarely weigh the same. The opener is reconnected last, with travel and force set to the new door.
On your side: clear the width of the opening inside and out, move vehicles off the drive or out of the alley, and lift anything fragile down from the walls beside it. Taking the old door away is included.
