The bottom bracket is worth naming on its own. It is the fitting at each lower corner where the lift cable anchors, and it is under full spring tension any time the door is down. People loosen it while trying to adjust a door, and it is one of the genuine ways this hardware hurts homeowners.

How do I test the auto-reverse myself?
Lay a solid object about an inch and a half tall flat on the floor in the door's path, then close the door with the opener. It should touch, reverse and go back up. If it stops and sits there, or keeps pushing down, stop using the opener and have it looked at.
Our door has no sensors at all. Is that allowed?
