How We Set the Door Back Up
The door is clamped, the remaining tension is bled off with winding bars, and the springs come off the shaft. While it is apart we check the cables, drums, bearings and center bracket, because a spring that snapped often took something with it.
New springs are wound to the door's actual weight rather than a guess. When it is right the door holds still on its own at waist height and lifts with one hand. Then we reset the opener force and travel limits, run several cycles, and test the safety reverse before we pack up.
