We realign, then test the reverse twice: once on the beam and once on a physical obstruction, because a door that will not back off something solid is the more dangerous of the two faults.
Remotes, keypads and the walk from the house
When the garage sits at the alley and you are pressing the button from the back door or halfway down the yard, range matters far more than it does on an attached garage. LED bulbs in the opener head are a frequent culprit, since the cheap ones throw interference right beside the receiver antenna.
We reprogram remotes, keypads and in-car buttons, replace failed receiver boards, and check the antenna wire hangs free rather than being tucked against the housing. Where a logic board has gone on a unit that is still mechanically sound, a board swap normally beats replacing the whole opener.
