Urgent Garage Door Help Across Chicago
A garage door stuck open in a Chicago alley is a security problem before it is a repair. Everything inside is on show from the pavement behind you, and on a detached garage there is no second door to lock instead. Those calls go to the front of the list.

BH Garage Door provides emergency service across the city for doors that are unsafe, stuck open, or holding a car hostage. Urgent work gets priority over routine work. What you get from us is a straight answer about when a technician can actually be at the address, not an overnight promise nobody keeps.
What We Treat as Urgent
Some faults can wait for a scheduled slot and some should not. A door stuck fully open, a door hanging crooked on one cable, a door resting against the frame after coming off the track, and a door that dropped and will not lift are all urgent, because each one is either an open building or a load waiting to fall.
A noisy door, a dead remote, a dented panel or a door that needs two presses of the button are not emergencies. They are worth booking properly. Treating them as routine is also what keeps the priority slots free for the household whose garage is standing wide open onto an alley.
Making It Safe Before the Van Arrives
If the door is down, leave it down and stop pressing the button. If it is stuck part way, do not pull the emergency release cord. On a door with a broken spring or a snapped cable, that release is the only thing still holding the weight, and pulling it can bring the door down fast.
If the door is open and will not close, clamp a pair of locking pliers onto the vertical track just under the bottom roller on each side. That stops the door dropping while you wait. Move anything worth stealing out of sight, and park across the opening if there is nothing better.
How Fast, Realistically
Our shop is on Cicero Avenue on the North Side and our vans run city routes daily, so reaching a Chicago address is normally a matter of hours rather than days. What actually decides your arrival time is traffic and where the nearest technician happens to be when you call.
You get a real arrival window and a call before the technician sets off. The estimate is free and given on site, and the price is agreed before anything is touched. A door that will not open can be a snapped spring, a cable off the drum or a stripped opener gear, and those are three different repairs, so nobody should be quoting one over the phone.

Questions
Chicago questions about this job
My garage door is stuck open and it is late. What should I do tonight?
Clamp locking pliers onto the vertical track below the bottom roller on both sides so the door cannot drop, move anything valuable out of the garage or out of view, and book the first slot available. Do not pull the release cord on a door being held up by a failed part.
Is a broken spring an emergency?
It is if the door is stuck open, if your car is trapped and you need it, or if that door is the only way into the building. If the door is safely down and you can live without the garage for a day, it can be booked as a normal call.
Can you make the garage secure if the door cannot be fixed the same visit?
Yes. Where a part has to be ordered, the technician gets the door down and secured so the building is closed up, then comes back to finish. Leaving a garage standing open overnight is not something we walk away from.
