A wide opening split into four short sections reads completely differently from the same opening in three tall ones, and on a house with a strong horizontal line the wrong division argues with the elevation.

Real timber gives you the genuine article and a refinishing cycle, shorter on a drive that takes afternoon sun. Steel with an overlay and a factory finish gives you the look with a much longer interval before it wants attention.

The specification then drives the mechanical half. The finished weight sets the spring, the cable gauge, the track gauge and the hangers, which is exactly the step skipped when a heavy door gets ordered and hung on standard parts.
