Timing It Around How the Garage Gets Used
If the garage is detached and unheated, book before the first hard freeze. Grease stiffens, seals get brittle and the door will spend the winter doing its hardest work on the first cycle of every cold morning.

Four openings a day is roughly fifteen hundred cycles a year, which puts a standard 10,000-cycle spring on something like a seven-year clock. And after a salted winter, the bottom section, the track at floor level and the bottom seal are worth washing and checking regardless of when the service is due.
